STRENGTHENING
COMMUNITIES HUI
CATALYST FOR COLLECTIVE ACTION
19-22 NOVEMBER 2023
ŌTEPOTI / DUNEDIN
Together we’re working for flourishing communities, healthy ecosystems and real climate action. Our collective efforts result in effective and impactful solutions to reduce climate pollution and build resilient communities.
In the face of significant climate challenges, we actively connect the dots between conservation, sustainability, economic outcomes and climate resilience with effective solutions. But legislative decisions are often made without considering the invaluable insights from our sector. The challenge is scaling up our solutions to influence policy effectively.
In 2023, our Hui takes place post-election. This presents an opportunity for us to ensure that the newly elected parliament can draw from our wealth of experience and knowledge to fast-track solutions. We invite our network members to share their stories and experiences, particularly in the wake of Cyclone Gabrielle, as vital lessons to inform our collective approach.
Our aim is to craft a compelling message for the incoming government, one that echoes the urgency of sustainable action, and presents our collective expertise as a way to fast-track transformative solutions.
Together we stand strong in our shared mission!

TRAVEL
If you are flying into Dunedin airport there are a number of shuttle companies that can get you into town. It is your own responsibility to get yourself and your team into the city centre. We recommend getting in touch with others who may be on the same flight as you to organise a group shuttle. You can liaise with other attendees on this RIDE SHARE sheet but please note we will not be monitoring this. Once in the city centre, you will not need any transport as everything is within walking distance!
ZERO CARBON EVENT
The Strengthening Communities Hui is proud to be a certified Zero Carbon Event with Ekos. We are reducing the carbon impact of our event’s supply chain by measuring and offsetting the emissions caused by organisers and presenters travel, vehicle use, electricity and waste. This footprint excludes the travel of any participants. The certified carbon credits we are purchasing will be sourced from projects that grow and protect forests in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands and help to deliver climate resilience, waterways protection, erosion control, biodiversity conservation and community economic development.
